Back in time, thanks to 1955

I don't think any one year is more synonymous with time travel than 1955. How appropriate, then, that the big lot of 1955 Topps cards I got recently helped me pick off some older cards from the Diamond Jesters Time Travel Trade.

Starting off with two modern football cards, a couple of Hall of Famers.

Three vintage football cards that had been sitting on the list for a while. What a great photo of Hall of Famer Tom Fears. Joe Schmidt is also a Hall of Famer. Jim Ray Smith is in some halls of fame, including the college one. Great photo with miles of field visible behind him.
On to baseball! Six additions to my 1958 set, including that Hal Smith card which I've seen on several other blogs, definitely one of the best cards in the set.
And four from 1957! Three Washington Senators and the Kansas City A's team card. You have to time travel pretty far back to get those teams.

  1. My vote goes to the KC A's team card.

  2. I don't have very much to offer for the '57s on the list -- not going to break up my '56 set, I know that.

  3. As great as that Tom Fears card is, I was happy to get rid of an oversized card from the Time travel box!

  4. I've always like that Joe Schmidt card. So serious!

  5. I suppose I'm not reading or watching the right stuff, because I don't associate 1955 with time travel at all.
